NFTs not your cup of tea? Well, they should: NFTs as a new way of fighting counterfeiting and piracy
More and more companies are jumping on the NFT bandwagon and selling various NFT items. But what actually are non-fungible tokens? Why are Swiss companies using this new technology? And what role can NFTs play in the fight against counterfeiting?
The event will also focus on the following topics relating to combating counterfeiting and piracy: the situation regarding counterfeit medicines in Switzerland and the EU, illegal online streaming services, and experiences with enforcing “Swissness” in Switzerland and abroad.
The STOP PIRACY association and the Intellectual Property and Innovation Research Centre [PI]2 of the University of Neuchâtel will attempt to shed light on these topics at the conference . This event will take place on Thursday, 15 September 2022 at the University of Neuchâtel.
«Fight Against Counterfeiting and Piracy in the Digital Era»
What are the challenges in the fight against counterfeiting and piracy in the digital age? Are 3D printers about to become the new money spinner for counterfeiters? What measures are in place in Switzerland to combat counterfeit goods being sold online? The new copyright law strengthens the fight against internet piracy by allowing data to be processed for the criminal prosecution of copyright infringements, but how will this actually be carried out in practice and what are the challenges involved?
It is these and further topics that the STOP PIRACY Association, the Centre for Intellectual Property and Innovation [PI]2 of the University of Neuchâtel and the Institut de lutte contre la criminalité économique ILCE will attempt to shed light on during the Fight Against Counterfeiting and Piracy in the Digital Era colloquium. This event took place on Friday, 4 September 2020 after the STOP PIRACY Association’s annual general meeting at the Haute école de gestion Arc in Neuchâtel.
