What we do
Stop Piracy is a non-profit association that works to educate and raise awareness among consumers and to promote cooperation between the authorities and the business community.
Counterfeit goods that infringe Swiss trade marks were mainly sent by post. The postal route accounted for 75% of all customs seizures.
In 2021, the estimated value of global trade in counterfeit products infringing Swiss intellectual property rights amounted to CHF 4.47 billion. This is equivalent to 1.3% of total Swiss exports.
From 2017 to 2019, 54% of counterfeit products infringing Swiss intellectual property rights were purchased by customers who knew they were counterfeit. Deliberate purchases of counterfeit Swiss products are steadily increasing: in the previous survey period from 2011 to 2016, the figure was 52.3%.
